A Unique Montessori Education
At The Ivies, your child will find a home away from home preschool experience, and you as a parent will be among a community of educators and fellow parents who are passionate about Montessori education.
Our Favorites
A few highlights of our year include our field trips, family days, and our special projects.
-
Field trips: Our family field trips extend classroom learning. Recent activities include family trips to study newts in their habitat and visiting Ardenwood Farm. We also took a musical journey at "Percussion Discussion" at the Lesher Center and rode the Sunol train.
-
Family days: Harvest Celebration, Spring Tea, Family Fair--an end of year gathering where students create and run a carnival-like game. Our family days are highlights that students work hard to plan, then get to showcase their new skills to their families.
-
Special projects: These vary each year, but current projects include a fundraiser for Heifer Intl. and making goats milk and honey soap. We study one artist in depth each year. Students have learned about Monet and Degas in recent years, and this year we are studying Kandinsky. We make our own art and create a gallery wall for our Spring Tea each year. Sewing and handcrafting projects are incorporated into many lessons to enhance fine motor skills.
