Our Back Story

Who we are and how we got our name. Plus, our exciting future as The Ivies Montessori continues to grow.

Our name gets its origins from Susan’s maiden name. Susan’s father Rex was an artist by training. Although he passed away in 2019, he left behind some treasures in his portfolios. To our delight, a design around our family name recently surfaced, as shown on his drawing board in the photo above. Her father's drawing, complete with climbing ivy, inspired not only our name but our philosophy for our school.

Just like the ivy climbing and reaching in our logo, at The Ivie’s Montessori we believe that a child’s first school experience should be filled with curiosity, exploration and opportunities for independence and growth. Our school started in a bedroom of Susan's home, then spread to two bedrooms, and we look forward to having our own school building soon where our vines can reach, grow and expand.

Our beautiful new schoolhouse has been thoughtfully designed to enrich our learning environment.

Coming fall 2024

It includes a kitchen for more cooking projects & snack preparation. A favorite spot will be the reading nook and peace corner with a sunny window seat.
